What is Pilates?
Pilates is a fitness method that was developed in the early 20th century by a man named Joseph Pilates. Pilates is a great way to discover more efficient movement patterns and gain greater flexibility, mobility, strength, and balance. Everything in Pilates is centered around a set of 5 basic principles:
Rib Cage Placement
Head and Neck Placement
Together, these basic principles work together to help the Pilates practitioner find a greater sense of ease and efficiency in their movement.
There are many different kinds of Pilates, but here at HOT PT we focus on Mat Pilates. This class is for beginners AND those who have practiced the method before! Lying down on your mat, you will be guided through a series of exercises that focus on coordinating breath to movement with careful attention to body placement and specific core activation.
